Colorful Books Cupcakes

These cute little back-to-school cupcakes have books and chocolate sprinkles.
  • I rolled white fondant out thinly and cut two rectangles placing one on top of the other; I folded them over to make four pages.
  • I then colored fondant with various colors and cut thicker, larger rectangles to wrap around as book covers; I scored each on the left to look like binding.
  • I piped white icing on each cupcake in an inward swirl.
  • I added chocolate sprinkle for color.

Shopping Spree

Do you love to shop? Do you have a few favorite stores? Here is a cake that is probably close to any girls heart. I took a 9 x 13 cake and cut it into three smaller sections, covered with fondant and stacked. To make sure the bottom layer wasn't holding all the weight I used dowels and cake boards between each layer. The Nordstorm box top is purely a fondant decoration.
